GRAC Supports Conceptual Plans for the development of the Gilmore-Waterfront Park in East Grand Rapids

The East Grand Rapids Parks & Recreation Commission has completed an extensive process to determine future plans for the Gilmore-Waterfront Park area on the northwest shore of Reeds Lake. The 17+ acre property was acquired by the City of East Grand Rapids in 1992 with the help of a DNR grant. It contains mostly damaged, forested wetlands, hiking trails and a small fishing pier.

Many GRAC members currently use this area for birdwatching and hiking. Current plans for the area will include a small parking lot, hiking paths and boardwalks along the Reeds Lake shore line. All proposed improvements will provide easier access to the area.

GRAC has sent a letter to Fred S. Bunn, East Grand Rapids Director of Parks and Recreation, in support of the park development. A copy of the letter can be seen by clicking on the GRAC letter link left. Details on the Gilmore-Waterfront Park can be found in the East Grand Rapids Spring 2008 News & Views Newsletter. See link to the newsletter left.
